Bend Fire Department responded to a fire in the attic of a home on McRoberts Ln in the Tetherow neighborhood just after 10:30 p.m. Monday. The owners of the brand new house called 911 when fire was found in the attic. As the fire was contained the attic of the home, no smoke alarms sounded. The owners were still awake and heard sounds coming from the attic and went to investigate, finding the space on fire. All occupants evacuated safely and fire crews were able to stop the fire from spreading into the livable space of the home.
The owners had just moved in a week ago and were still unpacking. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. Initial estimated loss in this fire is $225,000 between the structure and contents. More information and photo will be released when its available.
