A manhunt for an armed and dangerous murder suspect is over after the man was found dead east of Bend. A shelter in place was lifted for residents east of Hamby Road, south of Butler Market Road, west of Erickson Road, and north of Neff Road. This includes areas around Big Sky Park and Buckingham Elementary School.
The suspect, described as a white male adult, 6 feet 3 inches tall and 200 pounds, was suspected of attempted murder, first-degree assault and kidnapping and was considered armed and dangerous. There was a heavy law enforcement presence in the area east of Hamby Road searching for the suspect. If you live in the search area, please remain inside with your doors and windows locked. Report anything suspicious to Deschutes County 911.
According to Bend Police, Wednesday, at approximately 9:35 p.m., the suspect was found dead in the search area by members of the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team. Residents in the area no longer need to shelter in place.
