Local authorities have identified and arrested two people involved in the drive -by shooting in Redmond Monday. According to a news release from the Redmond Police Department:
On June 26, 2023, the Bend Police Department located the suspect vehicle, a black 2013 Honda Civic in the area of NE 1st and NE Greenwood Ave., in Bend. During the course of this investigation, the Major Incident Team (MIT) identified two suspects: a 45-year-old Redmond man and his 18-year-old son..
At approximately 7:30 p.m., the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) executed a search warrant of their residence in Redmond. No one was present in the home during the execution of the search warrant.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) deputy located the suspect’s vehicle, a two-toned gray 1993 Ford F150 with a blue stripe, in Sisters, Oregon. A Black Butte police officer successfully deployed spike strips as the suspect’s truck traveled west on Highway 20 near Black Butte Ranch. DCSO deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop of the vehicle. the son, a passenger, was compliant as deputies placed him into custody.
The driver refused to obey deputies’ commands and Deschutes County K9 Ronin was deployed and assisted with taking him into custody. The suspect was transported by Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District medics to St. Charles Medical Center-Redmond for medical treatment.
The 18-year-old son was arrested and jailed for the following crimes: Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Recklessly Endangering another person.
The father was arrested jailed for the following crimes: Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Recklessly Endangering another person.
RPD would like to thank the community members who have provided witness statements and video surveillance of the suspect vehicle. Information provided by community members helped police identify and ultimately locate the suspect vehicle and suspects.
RPD would also like to thank members of MIT, CERT, and Sisters-Camp-Sherman Fire District for their assistance with this case. MIT and CERT personnel were instrumental in the success of investigating this case.
