The Latino Community Association will bring the voices of Central Oregon to Salem this week to support the Immigrant Justice Package (IJP) in the Oregon Legislature.
In the midst of widespread ICE raids, LCA employees and board members will travel by van to Salem on Feb. 12 to meet with state legislators. They will encourage them to vote for the IJP, which includes Universal Representation (ECO), the Protect Your Doors Act, the Law Enforcement Accountability and Visibility Act (LEAVA), Anti-Discrimination Protections, and funding for anti-hunger programs.
In 1987, Oregon passed the first sanctuary law in the nation that bars local law officers from participating in federal immigration enforcement. This week, LCA joins a coalition of organizations to ask lawmakers to continue upholding fair treatment for immigrant Oregonians.
Here is a list of IJP bills before the legislature.
