Bend Police detectives and the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team on Tuesday executed search warrants at three locations and arrested eight suspects in connection with a September armed robbery at Ponderosa Park.
At approximately 1:57 a.m. on Sept. 29, officers responded to Ponderosa Park on a report that someone had been robbed at gunpoint.
An investigation determined that the victim, a 27-year-old Bend resident, got into an argument with friends while they were traveling back from the Eugene area. When they arrived at Ponderosa Park, a man in a ski mask approached the vehicle and pointed a gun at the victim, pistol-whipped him and took the victim’s property, including guns and prescription drugs, from his vehicle.
Over the course of several weeks, detectives and patrol officers identified multiple people involved in this armed robbery.
On Tuesday, Nov. 4, Bend Police and members of the Central Oregon Emergency Operations Team conducted a series of search warrants at three locations associated with the suspects – an apartment in the 1600 block of NW Portland Avenue; a home in the 400 block of SE Wildcat Drive, and an apartment in the 1300 block of NE Purcell Avenue. Detectives also took a total of eight people associated with the robbery into custody at those locations and in other locations throughout the day.
Additional charges and additional arrests may be forthcoming in this case.
