Oregon ranks 49th in the nation for access to mental health care, a sobering statistic with deep human and economic consequences. On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the City Club of Central Oregon and the Oregon Health Forum will come together to unpack the forces driving this ranking and to explore how Central Oregon can chart a more hopeful path forward.
The Jim Lussier Member’s Choice forum, titled “A Mental Health State of the Union-Are We Meeting the Need in Central Oregon?,” will convene experts and community leaders to help attendees understand the many factors shaping Oregon’s mental health landscape—from workforce shortages and funding gaps to data limitations, systemic fragmentation, and equity challenges.
“Our goal is to move past the statistics and help people understand the real-world systems that affect access and outcomes,” said City Club Executive Director, Amber Thacher. “We also want to understand what’s working in states that rank at the top, and how Central Oregon can apply those lessons locally.”
