Evacuation Orders For Marks Creek Fire In Crook County

The Marks Creek Fire, burning approximately 20 miles northeast of Prineville, east of Highway 26 is estimated at 1200 acres and continues to grow. The fire is burning south of Marks Creek and is moving to the south.

The Crook County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Level 3 – “Go Now” evacuation order for Hwy 26 between Forest Road 150 and Forest Road 2610. In addition, a Level 2 – “Be Set” warning is in effect from the Ochoco Ranger Station at Hwy 26 south for 1 mile along Ochoco Ranger Station Road. Ground and air resources are actively engaged. Firefighters are working to establish control lines to protect values at risk. Additional resources have been ordered.

The Central Oregon Type 3 Incident Management Team will assume command of the incident tomorrow morning.
