Bend Police are investigating a fatal car crash that happened late Saturday night. Jacobic Lee Barnhill, 23, of La Pine died from the crash. He had been a passenger in a 2012 Ford Focus that had been traveling at SE 15th Street south of Bear Creek Road. Bend Fire and Rescue removed the driver and a second passenger from the car, who were sent to St Charles Hospital for treatment.
Police say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. Any community members who witnessed the crash are encouraged to contact the Bend Police Department.
Members of the Bend Police crash reconstruction team went to the area to investigate, and that area of SE 15th Street was closed until 6:00 AM on September 24, 2023.
