At approximately 8:30pm on August 1, 2023, Redmond Fire & Rescue was alerted to a large brush fire in the area of NE 17th Street and NE Hemlock Ave. Multiple 911 callers were reporting a large brush moving to the south. Upon arrival of fire crews, a quick size up of the fire determined that approximately two acres of grass and junipers were on fire with a slow rate of spread to the southeast. Fire crews were able to get a quick knockdown on the fire and halt forward progress within a few minutes of arriving on the scene.
Cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Redmond Fire & Rescue was assisted by Bend Fire & Rescue, Crooked River Ranch Fire, Cloverdale Fire, BLM Fire, Redmond Police and Deschutes County Sheriff’s.
