Commercial Smoker Causes Prineville Fire

Two people were sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation after fire broke out at a commercial meat processing/butcher shop in Prineville Tuesday. According to info from Crook County Fire and Rescue, at 12:46 p.m. firefighters were called to the 200 Block of NE 4th Street where they found an active fire in the rear of the butcher shop building.

Several building employees were at work when the fire started. The fire had already vented through a large glass window and was threatening two other commercial buildings.  Crews were able to quickly knock down the flames and keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the structure and the nearby businesses. Two individuals were transported to St. Charles Prineville, for smoke inhalation. Cause of the fire was accidental, the result of a fire in a large commercial smoker.

CCFR was assisted on the scene by Prineville Police Department, City of Prineville Public Works, Pacific Power, Jefferson County Fire and EMS, and Redmond Fire and Rescue.

Probable fire cause:  Cause of the fire was accidental, the result of a fire in a large commercial smoker.
