CET Launches Community Movement Fund to Support Riders

cet315504
Cascades East Transit (CET) today announced two new initiatives designed to strengthen community connectivity and support transit access across Central Oregon: The Community Movement Fund and an expanded Bus Advertising Program. Together, these programs create new opportunities for Central Oregon businesses, organizations, and individuals to support riders while gaining meaningful visibility throughout the region.
“For many residents, a bus pass isn’t just a ticket – it’s mobility, independence, and opportunity,” said Andrea Wasilew, Outreach & Engagement Administrator at CET. “The Community Movement Fund allows our community to come together to ensure no one is left behind as we transition back to fare-based service.”

Ensuring Transit Equity: The Community Movement Fund
The Community Movement Fund was created to support residents who may face financial barriers as CET reinstates fares on February 1, 2026. Since 2020, CET had temporarily suspended fares on all non-recreational routes to support the community during the pandemic.

Powered by community contributions and corporate sponsorships, the Fund will help provide transit tickets to individuals who rely on CET for work, school, medical appointments, and other essential services. All sponsorship dollars go directly toward rider fare support in partnership with local nonprofits and social service agencies.
Community Movement Fund sponsors will be celebrated as champions of mobility and community connection through multi-channel recognition. Sponsors (based on level) will receive acknowledgment on CET’s website, inclusion in press releases, social media spotlights, and recognition within the annual Mobility Impact Report highlighting community contributions. Select sponsorship levels also include features in CET’s monthly newsletter, onboard poster advertisements, and potential external bus advertising.
New Opportunities for Local Visibility: Expanded Advertising
In tandem with the Fund, CET is expanding its bus Advertising Program, offering local businesses and nonprofits high-visibility placement opportunities on buses throughout Central Oregon. While the Fund provides a philanthropic avenue for support, the Advertising Program offers a commercial option for organizations to reach thousands of riders and residents each day.
“By expanding our advertising and sponsorship options, we are creating more ways for the Central Oregon business community to be an active partner in our transit ecosystem,” Wasilew added.
Organizations and individuals interested in supporting the Community Movement Fund or exploring advertising options can contact Andrea Wasilew at 541-639-5002 or awasilew@coic.org.
